Obituary for William Hanson Woodley
William Hanson Woodley, 95, of Roper died Thursday, January 1, 2015, at Washington County Hospital in Plymouth. Born November 5, 1919 in Washington County he was the son of the late Seaton Monroe Woodley and Lucinda Hassell Woodley and was preceded in death by his wives, Lila Robbins Woodley and Violet Mae Woodley; sisters, Levora W. Swain and Bernice W. Lockwood; brothers, Aubrey Woodley, Caswell Woodley, Everett Woodley, Woodrow Woodley and Wallace Woodley. Hanson was a retired cabinet maker with Warrens Displays of New York, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and member of Scuppernong Church of Christ. His family includes his daughter, Yola W. Davis and husband Gary of Long Island, N.Y; sister, Maxine W. Phelps of Roper, N.C.; grandchildren, Jill, Ryan and Tracy and many loving nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held Monday, January 5, 2015 at 11:00 am at Scuppernong Church of Christ, Creswell with Cleve Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Family will receive friends on Monday, January 5, 2015 from 10:00 to 11:00 at Scuppernong Church of Christ and other times at the residence of his sister, Maxine. Arrangements are by Maitland Funeral Home, Creswell.
