Obituary for Delinda Tetterton Snyder
Ms. Delinda Ann Tetterton Snyder died peacefully in her sleep on April 5, 2019 following a long illness. In her final weeks of life, she was continuously comforted and attended by her devoted daughter Betty. Ann was born March 10, 1931 to Archie W. and Irma Allen Tetterton in Plymouth, NC. She attended grade school in Plymouth and graduated Plymouth High School in 1949, Salutatorian of her class. She would later meet and marry Sid Snyder. Together they raised their only child, a beloved daughter they both cherished, Betty Lee Snyder. They would later gain through marriage a son-in-law, Mohammad Mustafa. Ann continued her life in Plymouth becoming one of the original employees of the Washington County Hospital. Ann was proud to have been part of a community effort to bring larger and improved health care to Washington County. She was the last surviving member of that staff. She moved to Raleigh in 2008 to be nearer family and to no one's surprise, she made a large family of friends at Capital Towers near North Hills.
Ann was a daughter, a wife, a mother, and a friend. She was bright and inquisitive and a leader of women's right to work before such terms even existed. She had a great sense of humor and took life in stride. She was an avid reader, a news junkie and a life long learner. She was a volunteer and cared about her community. She saw the unique value of every living person and made us feel loved and special. Most importantly, she will be remembered for her kindness and gentleness which she doled out liberally. Without exception, she leaves us a firm example of living out true grace. For now, she has left us to return home to God and has embraced her heavenly Father. Peace till we soon meet again.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Hillside Memorial Gardens in Plymouth, NC with Reverend Catherine Campbell officiating. Family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.
