Obituary for Raymond Harris Williams, Sr.
Mr. Raymond Harris Williams, Sr., age 74, of Roper, N.C., died Wednesday morning at Vidant Chowan Hospital in Edenton, N.C.

Born in Chowan County, N.C. on January 4, 1943, Mr. Williams was the son of the late Raymond Octavius Williams and Mrs. Gladys Phelps Williams Outlaw. He was a Power Plant Superintendent at Weyerhaeuser with thirty-one years of service, past master and member of Providence Lodge No. 678 of Columbia and member of Roper Baptist Church, Roper, N.C.

Surviving is his wife of fifty-six years, Janie Simpson Williams of Roper, N.C.; two sons, Raymond Williams, Jr. and wife Stephanie of Plymouth, N.C. and Stephen Williams and wife Jill of Edenton, N.C.; daughter, Chena Williams Cayton and husband John of Grimesland, N.C.; grandchildren, Ryan Williams, Dana Williams, Jansyn Williams, Devin Cayton, Sarah Williams and Johnathan Williams; brother, James Robert "Bobby" Williams and wife Joyce of Windsor, N.C. and step sister Barbara Cruz and husband Victor of Edenton, N.C.. Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his sisters, Shirley Williams Colombo and Jerry Outlaw Chasen.

Funeral service will be held Sunday, October 15, 2017 at 2:30 pm at Roper Baptist Church with Howard Simpson and Jay Hardison officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends on Sunday, October 15, 2017 from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at the church and other times at the residence.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Roper Baptist Church, PO Box 38, Roper, N.C. 27970.
