Obituary for Morris Dan Jones
Morris Dan Jones, 76, of Creswell died Tuesday, September 29, 2020, at his residence in Creswell surrounded by his loving family.

Born July 16, 1944 in Tyrrell County he was the son of the late Walter Alonzo Jones and Mabel Cahoon Jones and was preceded in death by his sisters, Nellie J. Gray, Dimple J. Taylor, Eunice J. Brickhouse, Doris Brickhouse, Priscilla J. Mayo and Wilma Floyd; brothers, Phillip Jones and Arnold Jones. Morris retired as a supervisor with N.C. Department of Transportation with thirty-two years service. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and a member of Creswell Baptist Church.

His family includes his wife, Peggy Smith Jones of Creswell, N.C.; daughters, Tammy M. Jones of Louisburg, N.C., Debbie D. Barnes of Creswell, N.C. and Cindy D. Powell and husband William of Greenville, N.C.; sons, Danny A. Jones of Columbia, N.C. and Terry E. Davenport of Creswell, N.C.; sisters, Lucy J. Bateman of Columbia, N.C. and Judy Cahoon of Fairfield, N.C.; brother, Lawrence Jones of Columbia, N.C.; grandchildren, Chris L. Davenport and wife Amber, Heather B. Davenport and husband Greg, Casey B. Spear and husband Nelson, Tara Jon Edwards and husband Brian, Chase M. Davenport and wife Brittany, Ethan L. Powell and Whitlee J. Powell; great grandchildren, Levi, Jenna, Sydney, Ellie, Trent, Sky, Brian and Mason.

Funeral service will be held Thursday, October 1, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Creswell Baptist Church with Jim Parrish and Edwin Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Azalea Memorial Gardens. Family will visit with friends at the church following the service and other times at the residence.

Arrangements are by Maitland Funeral Home, Creswell.
