Obituary for Mary Virginia Ainsley Davenport
Mary Virginia Ainsley Davenport passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at Chowan River Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Edenton. She was born July 15, 1911 to Charles Ainsley and Lenora Mann Ainsley.
She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-three years, Dallas Armstrong Davenport; one son, Dallas Davenport, Jr.; one son-in-law, Howard Leo Davenport, one sister, Minnie Sawyer Snell; three brothers, Charlie Ainsley, Jim Ainsley and Abe Davenport, Jr..
Surviving her is two daughters, Margie D. Davenport of Creswell, N.C. and Katy Rae Stillman and husband Palmer of Chesapeake, VA.;one son, Jim D. Davenport and wife Jan of Tuscaloosa, AL.; one brother, Levy H. Davenport of Morgan Hill, CA.;niece; Barbara Kyros and husband Ted of Laytonville, MD; grandchildren, Leo Davenport and wife Patricia, Don Davenport and wife Lynn, Sandra Johnson and husband Paul, Mike Stillman and wife Christine, Lee Stillman, Lisa Dinkel, Hal Davenport and wife Gail, Vickie Davenport, Dorothy Ruiz and husband Innocente; great grand children, Amy Clifton and husband David, David Davenport and wife Constance, Megan Davenport, Melissa Davenport, Kathryn Perron and husband Matt, Logan Stillman, Justin Dinke, Elyse Ainsley Dinkel, James Davenport, Ricardo Davenport; great-great grandchildren, Wyatt Clifton, Waylon Clifton, Deacon Perron, Bristol Davenport, Dillon Davenport and Brittany Davenport.
Big Mama as she was called by all of the family was a home maker, an excellent cook and seamstress for her family and the community. She was a member of the Creswell United Methodist Church and attended every Sunday she was able until her passing.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 20, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Creswell United Methodist Church, Creswell with the Reverend Tom Clarke officiating. Burial will follow at Azalea Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Maitland Funeral Home, Creswell.
