Obituary for Margaret Eugene Phelps
Margaret Eugene Phelps Phelps, 88, of Creswell died Friday, February 26, 2016, at Roanoke Landing in Plymouth.
Born March 18, 1927 in Washington County she was the daughter of the late Charlie E. Phelps and Hilda Davenport Phelps and was preceded in death by her husband, Arley Preston Phelps; brother, Reginald D. Phelps, sister, Lucille P. Rhodes; sister-in-law, Audrey P. Lassiter and brothers-in-law, Bailey Phelps and Wayne Phelps. Mrs. Phelps was the retired owner and operator of Phelps Amoco and an active member of Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church, Creswell. She loved working in her yard as long as she was able and always had beautiful flowers for everyone to enjoy. She was an excellent cook and loved to bake goodies to share with the sick and elderly. For many years it was her desire to always host the Phelps family Christmas dinner and would spend several days making sure she had favorite dishes of all the family. Her family will miss her!
Her family includes her son, Charles P. Phelps of Creswell, N.C.; brother, Billy R. Phelps of Creswell, N.C.; sister, Sue P. Lilley of Creswell, N.C.; brothers-in-law, S. D. Phelps and Avery Phelps of Plymouth, N.C.; many beloved nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held Sunday, February 28, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church, Creswell with Tom Hallberg and Thomas Biggs officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Family will receive friends on Saturday, February 27, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Maitland Funeral Home, Creswell and other times at the residence.
