Obituary for Hazel P. Coleson
Mrs. Hazel Phelps Coleson, 93, of Creswell died Saturday, May 8, 2010, at Britthaven Nursing Center, Edenton.
Born February 16, 1917 in Washington County she was the daughter of the late Dennis A. Phelps and Harriet "Hattie" Woodley Phelps and was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Fate Coleson, great grandson,Kyle Coleson; sisters, Della Davenport, Clara Phelps, Hilda Phelps, Myrtle Phelps, Hester Phelps; brothers, Lindsey Phelps, Frank Phelps, Wilbur Phelps and Dennis Phelps. Mrs. Coleson was a homemaker and member of Philippi Church of Christ.
Her family includes her daughters, Harriet C. Cole and husband Deems of Edenton, N.C., June C. Alexander and husband Floyd of Edenton, N.C., Jan C. Prenderville and husband Jack of Reno, NV.; sons, J. Doug Coleson and wife Carol of Florence, AZ., Jerry D. Coleson and wife Peggy of Edenton, N.C.; grandchildren, Mark Coleson, Rick Coleson, Mike Coleson, Duane Alexander, Deems Cole, Jr. "DJ", Lance Coleson, Dani Cole Gavaza and husband Mike, Dana Cole Parker and husband David, Lisa Cole Phelps and husband Tommy, Lora Cole Jordan and husband Chad, Amanda Alexander Livingston and husband Harold, Dawn Etheridge, Lesley Etheridge, Carol Ann Liddiard and Jeri Lyn Liddiard; great grandchildren, Alex Nixon, Ian Dellinger, Jeremy Dellinger, Isabella Gavaza, Madison Parker, Garrett Parker, Wyatt Phelps, Lily Livingston, Abner Livingston, Cody Coleson, Jon Cronk, Chloie Misewicz and Cicciare Coleson.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at 2:00 pm at Philippi Church of Christ, Creswell with Glenn Brickhouse, Larry Woodley and Dave Watts officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 11, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Maitland Funeral Home, Creswell and other times at the residence of her daughter June. Arrangements are by Maitland Funeral Home, Creswell.
