Obituary for Harrell Lee Woodley
Harrell Lee Woodley, 91, of Creswell went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 11, 2019, at his residence in Creswell surrounded by his family.
Born November 27, 1927 in Rowan County he was the son of the late Leon A. Woodley and Alberta Clary Woodley and was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Jon W. Barnes, Sr.. Harrell Lee retired from Weyerhaeuser Corporation as a roll wrapper with thirty-six years' service and in 1999 he started work with Maitland Funeral Home as a funeral director assistant for many years until his health declined. He was a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran of World War II with service in the Pacific and China. He was a member of the American Legion Post 391 and Philippi Church of Christ.
His family includes his wife, Maxine Boyd Woodley of Creswell, N.C.; sons, Robert H. Woodley and wife Ann of Edenton, N.C., Garry D. Woodley and wife Yvonne of Creswell, N.C., Terry L. Woodley and wife Phyllis of Rocky Mount, N.C.; sisters, Mary W. Barnes and Gilma W. Davenport and husband Reggie both of Creswell, N.C.; grandchildren, Colin Woodley and wife Brianne, Lee Woodley and wife Nicole, Clint Woodley and wife Lisa, Chris Campbell and wife Ashley, Kenan Mills and husband Stephen, Zachary Woodley and wife Deah; great grandchildren, Avery Woodley, Emerson Woodley, Dylan Woodley, Katie Woodley, Leah Woodley, Jackson Woodley, William Woodley, Nathan Campbell, Crissa Campbell, Elliott Mills and Sawyer Mills.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at 1:00 pm at Philippi Church of Christ with Glenn Brickhouse and Thomas Biggs officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the church cemetery. Family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the service and other times at the residence.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimers Foundation.
