Obituary for Elbert Woodman Jones
Elbert Woodman Jones, 96, of Columbia died Monday, December 13, 2010, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville.
Born February 13, 1914 in Tyrrell County he was the son of the late James Jones and Alice Owens Jones and was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Marion Lee Jones; sister, Esma Jones Weatherly and brother, James Jones. Jr. Elbert was a retired aviation technician with Norfolk Naval Air Station, a US Navy veteran of World War II and member of Harbor Light Holiness Church. He was a well known author for his book, "How To Make It Big" which he gain much notarity and worked with many inmates at the local prison, helping them change their lives through his book.
His family include his daughter, Marjorie Jones Cook and husband Dean of Ventura, California; four grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, eight great-great grandchildren; niece, Theresa Weatherly; nephews, Keith Weatherly and wife Gayle, Billy Weatherly and wife Laura, Coy and Jeanette Ambrose and dear friends, Connie and Peter Etheridge.
Memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at 2:00 pm at Harbor Light Holiness Church, Manns Harbor with Pastor Anthony Ralph officiating. Family will receive friends following the service. Arrangements are by Maitland Funeral Home, Creswell.
