Obituary for David Marshall Spruill
David Marshall Spruill, 66, of Plymouth died Sunday, January 12, 2014, at his residence in Plymouth following a courageous battle with cancer. Born February 5, 1947 in Washington County he was the son of the late Marshall Joseph Spruill and Estelle Everett Powell who survives and was preceded in death by his son, Michael Eric Spruill; step-daughter, Sonya Spruill Day and brother, Stanley Wayne Spruill. David was a saw filer in the lumber industry for many years. He later became manager of the American Peat Farm and was a self-employed plumber. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and member of Zion's Chapel Church of Christ. His family includes his mother, Estelle Everett Powell of Roper, N.C.; wife, Jean Woolard Spruill of Plymouth, N.C.; sons, David Ryan Spruill of Goldsboro, N.C., John Christopher Spruill and Wyatt Spruill of Roper, N.C.; daughter, Suzanne Harrington of Grimesland, N.C.; sisters, Jean Howell of Rocky Mount, N.C., Kay Stafford of Lancaster, S.C. and Tracy Love of Fort Mill, S.C.; brother, Mitchell Spruill of Cummings, Ga.; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Memorial service will be held Saturday, January 18, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Zion's Chapel Church Of Christ, Roper with Mark Wilmoth officiating. Family will receive friends on Saturday, January 18, 2014 following the service in the church fellowship hall and other times at the residence. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Zion's Chapel Church Of Christ. Arrangements are by Maitland Funeral Home, Plymouth.
