Obituary for Garland Leo Simpson
Garland Leo Simpson, 79, of Windsor died Monday, January 7, 2013, at his residence in Windsor. Born January 1, 1934 in Martin County he was the son of the late Arthur Simpson and Betty Tyre Simpson and was preceded in death by his sister, Myrtle Simpson; brothers, Wesley Simpson and Arthur Simpson, Jr. Garland was a retired building contractor and member of Greens Cross Baptist Church. His family includes his wife, Shirley Jean Elks Simpson of Windsor, N.C.; daughters, Lou Friend and husband Bob of Grifton, N.C., Moneen Jones and husband Bob of Greenville, N.C.; sons, Audie E. Simpson and friend Tiny, Garland L. Simpson, Jr. and wife Brenda both of Farmville, N.C.; sisters, Rachel Hahn of Kansas City, Kansas, Loretta Cullipher of Williamston, N.C.; brother, Dewey Simpson of Jamesville N.C.; nine grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. Funeral service will be held Friday, January 11, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. at Greens Cross Baptist Church, Windsor with Reverend Mike Willard officiating. Burial will follow in Edgewood Cemetery. Family will receive friends following the services at the church fellowship hall and other times at the residence.
