Obituary for Jack William Strader
Jack William Strader, 90, of Plymouth died Tuesday, January 3, 2012, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville. Born June 13,1921 in Guilford County he was the son of the late Galveston Garrett Strader and Mattie Chrismon Strader and was preceded in death by his sister, Frances S. Nichols; brothers, Howard Strader, George Strader and Dick Strader. Jack was a retired hardware business owner and member of Plymouth Church of Christ. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II, President of the Board of Directors of Southern Bank, member of Plymouth Fire Department, member of Perseverance Lodge No. 59 and an American Powerboat Association Champion. His family includes his wife, Alice Davenport Strader of Plymouth, N.C.; daughter, Bonnie Chesson Edmondson and husbond Don of Roper, N.C.; brothers, Herbert Strader of Greensboro, N.C. and Frank Strader of Pleasant Garden, N.C.; step-sons, Joe Beasley, Jr. of Plymouth, N.C. and Wayne Beasley of Jamesville, N.C.; grandchildren, Kari Hardison and husband Brian and Daina Chesson; great grandchildren, Dylan Hardison and Hannah Hardison; step grandchildren, Lori Dozier, Brian Beasley and Jason Beasley; step great grandchildren, Kelly Dozier, Ashley Dozier and Austin Dozier. Funeral service will be held Friday, January 6, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Plymouth Church of Christ, Plymouth with Bob Moulden officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends on Thursday, January 5, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Plymouth Church of Christ and other times at the residence. Arrangements are by Maitland Funeral Home, Plymouth.
