Obituary for Verna Phelps Herrington
Verna Phelps Herrington, 94, of Plymouth died Sunday, August 14, 2011, at her residence surrounded by her family.
Born February 8, 1917 in Washington County she was the daughter of the late Milton H. Phelps and Pearl Davenport Phelps and was preceded in death by her husband Woodrow Wilson Herrington; son, Woody Herrington; sister, Myrline Lamm; brothers, Cecil Phelps, Leroy Phelps, Henry Phelps and Jesse Phelps. Verna was a retired insurance representative and member of Plymouth Church of Christ, Plymouth.
Her family includes her daughters, Sue H. West of Raleigh, N.C., Jeanette H. Papineau of Plymouth, N.C., Linda H. Leslie of Macon, GA.; son, Jeff Herrington of Tarboro, N.C.; sister, Norma Phelps of Luthersville, MD.; brothers, Lester R. Phelps of New Haven, MS., Waverly Phelps of Greenville, N.C. and Bobby Phelps of Creswell, N.C.;daughter-in-law, Liz Herrington of Plymouth, N.C.;, twelve grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Plymouth Church of Christ with Bob Moulden and Don Phelps officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends on Monday, August 15, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Plymouth Church of Christ Family Life Center.
Arrangements are by Maitland Funeral Home, Plymouth.
