Gloria Gray Davenport Wynn, 84, passed away on Wednesday, December 27th, 2023, at ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville, North Carolina, surrounded by her loving family.
Born December 28th, 1938 in Creswell, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Millard Bon Davenport and Virginia Mae Comstock Davenport Perry. Gloria was retired from Weyerhaeuser Paper Company with forty-three years' of service as an Executive Secretary with the Engineering Department. She was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star for over 62 years. She had recently received her 60 year pin for her membership in October 2021. Gloria was also an active member of Plymouth Church of Christ in Plymouth, North Carolina for many years.
Gloria will be forever remembered for being an outgoing, kind-hearted, and compassionate person who enjoyed helping others in the community and her church family. She truly enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and would always fellowship with others and read her bible frequently. Gloria never met a stranger and touched so many lives throughout her life. She will be missed dearly by all her family and friends.
Her family includes her loving husband, Joseph Wayne Wynn; son, Nevin Wayne Wynn; grandson, Nicholas Marble; brothers, Nyle Davenport and wife Joan Davenport of Sarasota, Florida, Milt Davenport and wife Mary Davenport of Bristow, Virginia; nephews, Michael Davenport (Jill), Bruce Davenport, and David Davenport; niece, Kimberly Davenport Grimmick (Patrick); great nieces, Maddi Davenport and Mary Grimmick.
Family will receive friends on Friday, January 5th, 2024 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Plymouth Church of Christ, Plymouth, NC. Funeral service will be held Saturday, January 6th, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Plymouth Church of Christ, Plymouth, NC with Jay Hardison officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Gardens.
