Obituary for William R. Bateman
Mr. William Rudolph Bateman, 79, of Plymouth died Saturday, October 24, 2009 at University of North Caolina Hospital, Chapel Hill.
Born September 6, 1930 in Washington County he was the son of the late Garney Bateman and Lillian Turner Bateman and was preceded in death by his first wife, Margie Hardison Bateman; sisters, Clarice B. Sandy and Margaret B. Waters. Mr. Bateman was a retired office manager with East Carolina Supply for 47 years and a member of Plymouth Church of Christ. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and after his retirement worked as an area sales representative for Greeenville Monument Company.
His family includes his wife, Doris Nash Hardison Bateman of Plymouth, N.C.; son, Michael Bateman of Poolsville, MD.; daughters, Gwen B. Gibble of Durham, N.C. and Renee B. Wood of Plymouth, N.C.; step-son, L. Bennie Hardison of Plymouth, N.C.; step-daughters, Brenda H. Davenport of Edenton, N.C. and Kathy H. Johnston of Plymouth, N.C.; twelve grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at 2:00 pm at Plymouth Church of Christ with Bob Moulden officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 from 1:00 to 1:45 pm at Plymouth Church of Christ Family Life Center and other times at the residence. Arrangements are by Maitland Memorial Chapel, Plymouth.
