Obituary for William Martin 'Bill' Lybrand, III
William Martin 'Bill' Lybrand, III, 72 of Jamesville died Thursday, March 12, 2015, at Martin General Hospital in Williamston surrounded by his loving family. Born October 24, 1942 in Mecklenburg County he was the son of the late William Martin Lybrand, Jr. and Edith Ferguson Lybrand who survives and was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Cox Lybrand and granddaughter, Mary Ella Hardison. Bill grew up in Slater, S.C. and graduated from Slater-Marietta High School. He attended and graduated from East Carolina University with a Bachelor of Science degree. Bill joined the U.S. Navy and served as a hospital corpsman in Vietnam. Upon his return from military service, he worked for the South Carolina Department of Labor as an OSHA Director until his retirement in 2001. His family includes his mother, Edith Ferguson Lybrand of Greenville, S.C.; daughter, Heather Lybrand Clamp and husband Chad of Lexington, S.C.; sons, Timothy Martin Hardison and wife Donna, Jackie Lane Hardison, II and wife Stephanie and Christopher Shawn Hardison all of Williamston, N.C.; sister, Becky L. Carter of Greer, S.C.; brother, Mark Lybrand of Greenville, S.C.; grandchildren, Raines, Kelsey, Kenleigh, Haley, Josh and Alex. Memorial service will be held Saturday, March 21, 2015 at 11:00 am at Maitland Funeral Home, Plymouth with Dale Minton officiating. Family will receive friends on Saturday at the funeral home following the service and other times at the residence. Arrangements are by Maitland Funeral Home, Plymouth.
