Obituary for William Johnson "Bill" White, Jr.
William Johnson "Bill" White, Jr., 78, of Creswell died Monday, November 28, 2016, at Three Rivers Health & Rehabilitation Center in Windsor.

Born July 26, 1938 in Norfolk, Virginia he was the son of the late William Johnson White, Sr. and Veva Collins White and was preceded in death by his first wife, Ceceilia Willoughby White. Mr. White was a retired educator who taught at Columbia High School for many years before becoming the School Principal and later worked with Tyrrell County Board of Education until his retirement. His family owned Ben Franklin Store in Columbia was the second oldest in the United States that he ran until the death of his first wife. He was a member of the Creswell Town Council for twenty-seven years and served as the Mayor of the Town of Creswell for sixteen years. He was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, The Southern Albemarle Association and Creswell Ruritan Club.

His family includes his wife, Jean Barnes White of Creswell, N.C.; step-sons, Harold Ray Holton, Jr. and wife Deborah of Creswell, N.C. and Harvey Allen Holton and wife Robin of Kill Devil Hills, N.C.; four step grandchildren and four step great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held Friday, December 2, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Creswell Baptist Church with Eddie Coltrain officiating. Family invites everyone to a reception and luncheon following the service in the church fellowship hall. Burial will be in Azalea Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends on Thursday, December 1, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Maitland Funeral Home, Creswell and other times at the residence.
