Obituary for Wallace Edward Craddock, Sr.
Wallace Edward Craddock, Sr., 87, of Roper died Monday, April 3, 2017 at Vidant Bertie Hospital in Windsor.
Born November 4, 1929 in Washington County he was the son of the late George Chester Craddock and Ada Patrick Craddock and was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Allen Craddock; sisters, Doris Abraham, Margaret Kluth, Rachael Phelps and Barbara Cogan; brothers, James Craddock and Chester Craddock, Jr. Wallace was a former police officer with Norfolk Police Department and Plymouth Police Department and operated W.C. Sales, was a farmer and member of Piney Grove Free Will Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Marine Corp Veteran of WW II, a founding member of Mid-County Fire Department and Mid-County Ruritans. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed raising American bulldogs.
His family includes his daughters, Susan C. Ward and husband Ted of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, Debra C. Kelly and husband Rodney of Wilson, NC, Linda C. Wilson and husband Garry of Zebulon, NC and Teresa C. Lassiter and husband Ray of Edenton, NC; son, Wallace E. Craddock, Jr. and wife Jane of Roper, NC; brother, Charles Craddock of Jamesville, NC; sisters, Sara Mullennex of Virginia and Eva Ferrell of Raleigh, NC; ten grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
A private family burial will be at a later date.
Arrangements are by Maitland Funeral Home, Creswell.
