Obituary for Victor S. Alexander, II
Victor St.Clair Alexander, II, 81, of Creswell died Saturday, November 21, 2009 at Chowan Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility in Edenton.
Born February 25, 1928 in Tyrrell County, he was the son of the late Alvin Richard Alexander and Margaret Sawyer Alexander and grandson of Victor St.Clair Alexander, Sr. He was preceded in death by three daughters, Victoria Alexander, Yvonne Alexander Phelps and Jill Holton Alexander; brother, Charles (Charlie) Otis Alexander: sister, Virginia Alexander Voliva and step mother, Selma Alexander.
Survivors include his wife, Dolores Holton Alexander of Creswell, NC; one daughter Katherine Alexander Walden and husband Stuart of Bath, NC and one son, Victor St.Clair Alexander, III. of Boca Raton, FL; three grandchildren, Yvette Phelps Underwood, Daniel Shea Harris and wife Cherry and Jayme Cole Harris and wife Emily; step grandchildren, Stuart "Trey" Walden, III and wife Janet and Amanda Walden; great grandchildren, Jonathan Underwood, Ryan Underwood, Alec Fishe and Parker Harris and step great grandson John Walden.
Victor was a retired multi-craft technician with forty-four years' service with Weyerhaeuser Corporation. He was a member of Mount Hermon Methodist Church, Creswell, NC. He served his church as Sunday School Superintendent and choir member. He was devoted to his community by serving on the Creswell City Council for thirty thee years, the Southern Albemarle Commission, a volunteer fireman and a certified EMT. He was also a member of various organizations including the Albemarle Emmaus, Past Master of Providence Lodge 678, Worthy Patron of Eastern Star, Recreation Fisherman and a diehard DUKE fan.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at 11:00 am at Mount Hermon Methodist Church with Dalma Cribb and Thomas Biggs officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at Maitland Funeral Home, Creswell and other times at the residence. Arrangements are by Maitland Funeral Home, Creswell.
