Obituary for Roger Edsel Hopkins, Sr.
Roger Edsel Hopkins, Sr., 85, of Plymouth died Saturday, May 25, 2013 at Heartfield Assisted Living in Cary. Born May 29, 1927 in Martin County he was the son of the late Samuel H. Hopkins, Sr. and Florene Andrews Hopkins and was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Humphreys Hopkins; sisters, Thelma Sykes, Evelyn Hardison, Velma Hall, Madeline Tetterton, Myrtle Brinkley and Gladys Peel; brothers, Benjamin Hopkins, Samuel H. Hopkins, Jr., Lanston Hopkins, Rufus Hopkins and William Hopkins. Roger was a retired auto body technician and member of Plymouth Church of Christ. His family includes his daughters, Katherine H. Cutler and husband Kevin of Bath, N.C. and Susan H. Sharp of Cary, N.C.; sons, Roger E. Hopkins, Jr. and wife Michelle of Castle Hayne, N.C. and David W. Hopkins of Cary, N.C.; grandchildren, Stephen Hopkins and Alexandra Cutler. Funeral service will be held Monday, May 27, 2013 at 11:00 am at Maitland Funeral Home, Plymouth with Jay Hardison officiating. Burial will follow in Windley Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Monday at the funeral home following the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Wake County Hospice. Arrangements are by Maitland Funeral Home, Plymouth.
