Obituary for Robert Junior Bowen
Robert Junior was born in Beaufort County, the eldest of four children, to the late Robert W. Bowen and Clara M. Stotesberry on December 30, 1944. Robert was married to his loving wife, Donna, for forty-four years. He is survived by five children, Deborah Francisco and husband Tom of Grandy, Katherine Williams and husband Lee of Williamston, Ruth Tanner of Kinston, Jason Bowen and wife Suzy of Charleston, SC and Brandon Bowen and wife Shannon of Winterville.

Being raised on NC Hwy 32 South in Plymouth a strong sense of family developed that ensured the family remained close and devoted to each other throughout the years. He is survived by his sister Patricia Futrell and husband Buddy of Plymouth and his brother Dennis Bowen and wife Jennie of Plymouth. He was preceded in death by his sister Esther Smith.

Robert began his working career at Weyerhaeuser in 1965. He changed careers and with a love of traveling started his career as an owner operator of his own trucking company, Robert J. Bowen Trucking. After many miles and years of traveling around the United States and several interim dispatcher jobs, Robert Junior began employment with his longtime friend Guy "Buddy" of Shavender Trucking. As a Dispatcher, Robert was known for helping to ensure that the job was completed. Robert continued his employment with Shavender Trucking until his retirement. After his retirement, Robert and Donna started enjoying many trips in their camper.

In addition to his five children, Robert Junior is survived by ten grandchildren; Kristen Spears and husband Mike of Garner, Ryan Askew and wife Leslie of Jamesville, Cody Askew and wife Kathryn of Plymouth, Jerred Francisco of Kill Devil Hills, Louren Francisco of Windsor, NY, Austin Bembridge of Kill Devil Hills, Hunter Bembridge of Williamston, Tyler Bowen of Charleston, SC, Cooper Bowen of Charleston, SC and Blake Bowen of Winterville. Robert leaves behind four great grandchildren; Declan Spears of Garner, Caden, Emmy and Holly Askew of Jamesville. Robert Junior also leaves behind eight nieces and six nephews.

Robert Junior was greatly beloved by many friends and families in Plymouth and Eastern North Carolina. His willingness to lend a helping hand up, a kind word and a warm smile have left loving impressions on the hearts of those lives he touched.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Maitland Funeral Home located at 306 Latham Avenue, Plymouth, NC. Family will warmly receive friends after the loving memorial service concludes.
