Obituary for Phillip Ray Gurganus
Phillip Ray Gurganus, 84, of Plymouth died Thursday, April 11, 2013, at his residence in Plymouth. Born October 10, 1928 in Washington County he was the son of the late Paul Spruill Gurganus and Stella Spruill Gurganus and was preceded in death by his brother, Marvin Spruill Gurganus. Phillip was a retired maintenance supervisor with Weyerhaeuser Corporation, a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict, a former member of the Plymouth Jaycees and member of First Christian Church. His family includes his wife, Lillian Watson Gurganus of Plymouth, N.C.; daughter, Debbie Gurganus Rocha and husband Donovan of Valley Center, CA.; son, Philip Dean Gurganus and wife Amy of Plymouth, N.C.; grandchildren, Chelsea Gurganus and Kathryn Gurganus. Funeral service will be held Sunday, April 14, 2013 at 2:00 pm at First Christian Church, Plymouth with Reverend V. Tom Banks officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends on Saturday, April 13, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Maitland Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Arrangements are by Maitland Funeral Home, Plymouth.
