Phillip "BB" Edward Barnes, 78, of Plymouth, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 21, 2024, at ECU Health Beaufort Hospital, Washington, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in on December 25,1945 in Virginia Beach, Virginia to the late Rufus Phillip Barnes and Mary Jane Phelps Barnes. Phillip retired from Weyerhaeuser Corporation with 35 years' service as a lab technician and was an active member of Plymouth Church of God.
Phillip will be remembered by his love for his family, church family "senior outings" and teaching Sunday School. We have been blessed to have him for an extra 19 years. Outside of sharing what God had done for him, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and tinkering in his yard. His bible was the guide to living his life and that is a legacy we will cherish for the rest of our time on this side of heaven.
His family includes his loving wife, Mary Calloway Barnes; daughters, Monica Barnes Lane and husband Don of Edenton, NC, Tammy Barnes McDonald and husband Eddie of Roper, NC, Lisa Barnes Cooper and husband Mike of Plymouth, NC and Tonya Barnes Lamm and husband Jay of Knightdale, NC; grandchildren, Hollie Boyd and husband Bradley, Hannah Alligood and husband Stuart, Jared Phelps and wife Gracen, Tanner Phelps and wife Brooke, Megan Hunter and husband John, Olivia Dudley and Camryn Lamm; grand fur baby Sally and great grandchildren, Levin and Landry.
Funeral will be held Thursday, January 25, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Plymouth Church Of God with Pastor Jeff Person and Reverend William Braswell officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Plymouth Church of God and other times at the residence.
