Peter J. Meyers, 73, of Plymouth, NC, formerly of Duanesburg, NY, passed away suddenly on Thursday, April 24, 2025. Born on January 3, 1952, in Schenectady, NY, he was the son of the late Robert and Roberta Meyers. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kaye Meyers, his brother Richard Meyers, and his brother-in-law James Yauchler.
Peter graduated from Duanesburg High School and earned an accounting degree from Schenectady County Community College. He retired from AAA Northway in Schenectady in 2013 after over 25 years of service.
Peter was a talented and remarkable woodworker, known for his ability to tackle any DIY project, no matter how complex, and an exceptional eye for detail required for fine woodworking projects. He was also an avid golfer, cherishing the memories of days out on the links with his brothers, and a lifelong fan of both the NY Yankees and NY Jets. Most importantly, “Grandpa Pete” cherished his grandchildren, spending countless hours enjoying movies, games, and imparting invaluable life lessons. Appreciating Eastern North Carolina and the Outer Banks on vacation, Peter and Kaye moved to Plymouth in 2013, where he enjoyed making updates to their new home and exploring the area.
Peter is survived by his siblings, William Meyers, Wendy (Doug) Meyers, Linda Yauchler, Debra (Wayne) Bell, and Timothy (Diane) Meyers; stepchildren, Merry (Chuck) Beekman, Frederick Dykeman, Kathleen Van Valen, and Kimberly (David) Oakes; 10 grandchildren, Lindsey (Walter) Hladchuk and Justin Dykeman, Sophia and Ethan (Ashley) Van Valen, Charles (Molly) and Thomas (Lindsey) Beekman, Zoe Squadrito, Rachel, David and Eve Oakes; and one great-grandchild, Maverick Van Valen. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date in New York.
