Peggy Jean Rogers Roberson, 85, passed away peacefully Saturday, January 18, 2025, at her home in Plymouth, NC.
Born August 21,1939 in Martin County, Peggy was the first born of the late Ben Staton Rogers and Lula Mae Gardner Rogers. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Benny Rogers, Luther Rogers, and Margaret Rawls.
Peggy was born and lived her first 18 years in the Williamston area with her large family, including her beloved Mammy, Effie Nicholson Gardner. While there, she attended the Martin County schools and Community Christian Church. In 1957, Peggy married the love of her life, Arnold Clifton Roberson, and together they moved to Plymouth where they shared sixty-two years until Arnold's passing in 2019. Peggy and Arnold were blessed with the birth of their son, Randy Earl Roberson, and the three made their home at 319 White Oak Road.
Peggy leaves many family and friends to mourn her passing including her beloved son, Randy of Plymouth; sisters, Ann Hardison of Williamston, Patricia Leggett and husband, Roy, of Washington; Linda Craft and husband, Ronald, of Belhaven, and Carolyn Dickerson and husband, Terry, of Grimesland; brothers, Jimmy Rogers and wife, Joyce, of Statesboro, GA, Felton Rogers and wife, Wanda, of Williamston, and William Earl "Billy" Everett of Grifton; in-laws, Alton and Stella Windom of Plymouth, Larry and Betty Jo Ange of Jamesville, and Laura Bland of Williamston; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Peggy was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend to many. She loved meeting and talking with new people, caring for and sharing her unique varieties of flowers and plants, traveling to enjoy various country music artists (especially her favorite, Gene Watson), and shopping until the stores closed. Peggy Jean was a ray of sunshine that will be missed.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at 2:00 pm at Maitland Funeral Home in Plymouth with Jay Hardison officiating. Family will receive friends at Maitland Funeral Home prior to the service from 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm and immediately following the service. Peggy's final resting place will be beside her beloved husband at Woodlawn Cemetery in Williamston.
The family expresses gratitude to all of Peggy's caregivers, especially Rhonda Hickman, Karen Patrick, Mildred Roy, and Judy Lyle.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the charity of your choice.
