Nyal Womble Watson died November 21, 2021 at her home in Plymouth, North Carolina. She was 82 years old.
Ms. Watson was born Louise Nyal Womble on October 31, 1939 in Rocky Mount, NC to parents Edith R. and Logan Nyal Womble Jr. Nyal spent her childhood and teen years in Plymouth, NC and graduated from Plymouth High School in 1958. She continued her education at UNC and St. Andrews College obtaining a Bachelor In Music and a minor in Business in 1963. Nyal then furthered her music interests by moving to New York City where she focused on developing her voice while working as a secretary at the U.N. Nyal married her husband, Larry Watson, in 1965, and resided in Georgetown, SC and Pine Bluff, Arkansas before making Plymouth her home once again. After returning to Plymouth, she worked in her family's pharmacy while remaining active in her community. Nyal enjoyed the opportunity to serve on the Board of Social Services, the Board of the Plymouth Country Club, as a member and officer of the Plymouth Women's Club, and as director of the community chorus. Her most dedicated pursuit, however, remained her role as choir director at the First Christian Church of Plymouth. Nyal enjoyed playing golf and was active in the Roanoke Women's Golf Association for many years. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling with her husband and friends to much of North America and beyond.
Nyal is survived by her husband, Larry, her two children, Larry Watson, Jr. and wife Selina; daughter, Kerri Lundy and husband Jonathan; grandchildren, Claire Lundy, Patrick Lundy and Simon Lundy; her brother, Joseph Edward Womble and sister-in-law, Millie Womble, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Logan Nyal Womble, Jr. and Edith Robertson Womble and her brother, Logan Nyal Womble, III.
