Obituary for Mitchell Ray Cooper

Mitchell Ray Cooper, 75, of Jamesville, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 4, 2024, at his residence in Jamesville.


Born September 6,1948 in Washington County he was the son of the late John Henry Cooper and Oletha Dale McCoy Cooper and was preceded in death by his sister,  Susan Weid and her husband Dietmar.  Mr. Cooper retired from Weyerhaeuser/Domtar with 37 years' of service, was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam Conflict and member of Poplar Chapel Church of Christ.


His family includes his loving wife, Mary Elaine Modlin Cooper of Jamesville, NC; daughters, Annie Cooper Bishop and husband Rory of Ft. Thompson, South Dakota, Katie Cooper Broyles and husband David of Elizabeth City, NC and Emilie Cooper Trueblood and husband Joshua of Elizabeth City, NC; sister, Donna Rawls and husband Tony of Greenville, NC; brother, James Cooper and wife Mary of Plymouth, NC; grandchildren, Eleanor Bishop, Hattie Broyles and Dottie Trueblood, and many loving nieces and nephews.


Funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at 12:30 p.m. at Poplar Chapel Church of Christ with Carroll Jones officiating.  Burial will follow in Jamesville Cemetery.  Family will receive friends on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon prior to the service at the church and other times at the residence.


Arrangements are by Maitland Funeral Home, Plymouth.
