Obituary for Maxine Woolard Riddick
Maxine Woolard Riddick, daughter of the late Dora Lee O'Neal and William Roswell Baynor, and wife of the late William Joseph Woolard, Sr. and the late William Leslie Riddick, died at her daughter's home surrounded by her loving family in Virginia Beach, Virginia on February 1, 2022. Maxine was a current resident at First Colonial Inn - Independent Living Area for the past seven months.
Maxine was born on September 9, 1935 in Pantego, NC. Maxine was raised along with her twin sister Marie in Plymouth, NC. Maxine is predeceased by her twin sister Marie, who passed just four months ago, her aunt and uncle, Ruby and Harold Whitley, and cousin Ernestine Basnight all of Plymouth, NC. Maxine is survived by her son, William Joseph Woolard, Jr. (Billy Joe); her daughter, Gigi W. Smith (Mark); her two granddaughters, Rachel Chung (Daryl) and Hollis (Holly) and her finance' Josh Barthlome; her great grandson, Wesley (who has her blue eyes); her three sisters, Margaret McCroskey (Bristol, TN), Jean Basnight (Virginia Beach, VA) and Judy Cooper (Norfolk, VA) along with many caring nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family wants to extend a special thanks and appreciation for the help and care provided by our brother-in-law, Jeffrey Smith and most dear family friend, Elizabeth "Pigeon" Hoggany during her transition to heaven.
Maxine's service will be held Saturday, February 19, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in Plymouth, NC at the First Christian Church with a visitation following at the back of the Sanctuary and at the Garden Spot on Main Street.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made, in her name, to the First Christian Church, at 509 E. Main Street, Plymouth, NC 27962 or to any cancer foundation of your choosing.
