Obituary for Marvell "Marty" Swett, Sr.

Marvell "Marty" Swett, Sr. was born July 10, 1930 in Robinson County to the late Purcell and Ruthie Jacobs Swett. He was married to his wife Effie for fifty-seven years. He was a loving father of six, and a grandfather and great grandfather to many. He retired as a career electrician. He was known for his love of birds, animals, and his long talks under the tree.

Marvell was preceded in death by his wife Effie Swett; daughters, Sandra Brickhouse and Brenda Hunold; son, Ralph Swett; granddaughter, Melinda Berry; grandson, James Swett; great grandson, Cody Hodges; brothers, Vardell Swett, Willie Swett, and William Swett; sisters, Mary Swett and Stella Swett.

His family includes his children; Linda Berry (Billy Reagan), Connie Rast (David), Marvell "Marty" Swett Jr. (Lynn), and son-in- law, Robert "Harpo" Hunold; sister, Ellen Locklear; brothers, Bobby Swett, Wilmer Swett, Latham Swett, and Purcell "Junior" Swett. He also had many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and his most loved companion, his dog for fifteen years, Baby Girl.

He will always be remembered for the love that he showed his wife, his family, and his animals. He was a devout Christian that loved to share the word of God. He was kind hearted and never raised his voice to anyone. He never met a stranger anywhere he went.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Cherry Church of God. Burial will follow in the Swett Family Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Friday, August 19, 2022 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Cherry Church of God and other times at the residence.

Arrangements are by Maitland Funeral Home, Creswell.
