Obituary for Marjorie Phelps Davenport
Marjorie Phelps Davenport, 83, of Roper died Thursday, July 16, 2015 at Roanoke Landing in Plymouth.
Born November 7, 1931 in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Charlie W. Phelps, Sr. and Lillian Ambrose Phelps and was preceded in death by her husband, Morris Daniel "Dan" Davenport; sons, John D. "Danny" Davenport and William Glen Davenport; brothers, Harold R. Phelps, Charlie W. Phelps, Jr. and John M. Phelps. Margie was a retired sales representative with Lucy's Variety Store of Creswell and Ben Franklin of Columbia and was a member of Scuppernong Church of Christ.
Her family includes her son, Morris Gordon Davenport and wife Jo Ann of Roper, N.C.; sister, Mable P. Porter of Plymouth, N.C.; daughter-in-law, Amy D. Phelps of Roper, N.C.; grandchildren, Kimberly D. Graham and husband Skip, Kelly D. Scott and husband Ray, William B. Davenport, Daniel Davenport and wife Kendra; great grandchildren, Greyson Graham, Ava Graham, Will Davenport, Wyatt Davenport, Jaidyn Scott, Noah Davenport and Chloe Davenport and many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at 2:30 pm at Scuppernong Church of Christ with Cleve Edwards and Jack Sawyer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Family will receive friends on Monday, July 20, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Scuppernong Church of Christ and other times at the residence of her son, Gordon.
Arrangements are by Maitland Funeral Home, Creswell.
