Obituary for Lomer Richard Davenport, Sr.
Lomer Richard Davenport, Sr., 89, of Roper died Thursday, March 23, 2017, at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

Born May 8, 1927 in Washington County he was the son of the late Louis Richard Davenport and Lula Jane Phelps Davenport and was preceded in death by his wife, Ramona Furlough Davenport. Lomer was a retired lime kiln operator with Weyerhaeuser Corporation and a member of Saints Delight Church of Christ. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and founding member of Pine Tract Hunting Club.

His family includes his son, Lomer R. Davenport, Jr. of Greenville, N.C.; daughters, Betty D. Finn of Manteo, N.C., Joyce D. Roberson and husband Carroll of Roper, N.C., Carolyn D. Comstock and husband Lin of Plymouth, N.C. and Jackie D. Perry and husband Wood of Colerain, N.C.; brother, Milton Davenport of Plymouth, N.C.; sister, Marie D. Bandy of Waterloo, IN.; nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Funeral service will be held Sunday, March 26, 2017 at 3:00 pm at Saints Delight Church of Christ, Roper with Arnold Pressey officiating. Burial will follow in Windley Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Sunday, March 26, 2017 at the church following the service.

Arrangements are by Maitland Funeral Home, Plymouth.
