Obituary for Lois Mitchell Ober
Lois Mitchell Ober, 83, of Roper, died peacefully on Sunday, June 6, 2021, at her residence at Albemarle Beach in Roper.
Born April 17, 1938 in Martin County she was the daughter of the late Allen Hildred Weathersbee and Mabel Virginia Ayers Weathersbee and was preceded in death by her son, Dwayne Tetterton; brother, Allen Weathersbee, Jr.; brothers-in-law, Thomas Davenport and Billy Nicholson.
Lois worked in the Cosmetology field for fifty years; twenty-five years in the Beauty Style Salon and twenty-five years on the road as District Sales Manager for Salon Centric. She loved the Cosmetology field and especially loved the stylists she met and the clients she served. Lois touched many lives in her twenty-five years as a Cosmetologist, as well as the twenty-five years she was on the road serving a multitude of style salons.
It has been said that Lois entered a shop in a whirlwind; always with a smile, treating her clients like family and well-loved friends. She made friends easily and her infectious smile and sense of humor always had stylists laughing. She loved a good joke!
Lois graduated from East Carolina University with a double major in Marketing and Business, BS and BA. Her positive attitude and sense of humor helped her face the fight of her life, as she bravely battled Parkinson's disease. Lois was a member of Saints Delight Church of Christ in Roper.
Her family includes her husband of eight and one half years, Carl M. Ober, of Roper, NC; daughter-in-law, Lori Tetterton of Wilmington, NC; granddaughters, Katie and Amanda; sisters, Ann Davenport of Raleigh, NC and Annette Nicholson of Plymouth, NC; brother, Bill Weathersbee and wife Shirley of Cary, NC; and step-children, Travis and Kristen.
Graveside memorial service will be held Sunday, June 13, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Hillside Memorial Gardens with Chris Grimes officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Saints Delight Church of Christ, 4670 Mackeys Road, Roper, NC 27970 or the Parkinson Foundation, 200 SE 1st Street, # 800, Miami, FL 33131.
