Obituary for Lillian Watson Gurganus
Lillian Watson Gurganus, of Plymouth died Sunday, June 14, 2020, at her residence in Plymouth. Mrs. Gurganus was born March 20, 1932 to Marie and Irving Watson. She married her husband, Phillip Ray Gurganus on July 7, 1950.
While Phillip served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, they lived in Fairbanks, Alaska where he was stationed. They returned to Plymouth where they raised their family and forged careers.
Lillian was the model of southern beauty, charm, hospitality and courage. Her family always came first. Lillian loved keeping a pretty home and yard. She loved to shop and dine out. Her favorite holiday was Christmas. She enjoyed opening her house to family and friends.
Lillian was a lifelong member of First Christian Church. She was a member of the Christian Women's Fellowship and enjoyed attended Circle Meetings.
Lillian was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Lillian is survived by a brother, Larry Irving Watson; a son, Philip Dean Gurganus and wife Amy; daughter, Debbie Rocha and husband Donovan; two granddaughters, Chelsea Gurganus McCombs and husband Chad and Kathryn Gurganus Askew and husband Cody; three great granddaughters, Sadie, Macie and Mollie McCombs.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at 1:00 pm at First Christian Church, Plymouth with Pastor Jimmy Elks officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends at the church following the service and other times at the residence.
