Obituary for Kathryn Davenport Woodley
Kathryn Davenport Woodley, 83, of Creswell died Thursday, January 5, 2012 at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia. Born April 20, 1928 in Washington County she was the daughter of the late Hubert Leon Davenport and Nellie Allen Davenport and was preceded in death by her husband, Ashley Johnson Woodley; sons, Ashley Edward Woodley and Vernon Carroll Woodley; daugther-in-law, Cynthia Sue Woodley. Kathryn was a homemaker and member of Philippi Church of Christ. Her family includes her daughters, Kathie Woodley Wynn and husband Fred of Edenton, N.C., Reber Woodley Chergosky and husband David of Woodbridge, VA.; sons, Thomas Leon Woodley of Chesapeake, VA. and Horace Edison Woodley and wife Denise of Columbia, N.C.; sisters, Geraldine Schiefer of Suffolk, VA., Nell Ashley and Judy Armstrong of Chesapeake, VA.; grandchildren, Tanya Kelly, Melissa Barber, L.J. Woodley, Laura Hill, Constance Davenport, Stacy Carty, Valene Woodley, Ashley Larkin, Jeremiah Woodley, Gabrielle Davenport, Michelle Ortiz, Austin Wynn, Marcus Chergosky, Randall Chergosky and Rebecca Chergosky; great grandchildren, Hailey Kelly, Christian Kelly, Cody Barber, Cole Barber, Stanley Woodley, Heather Woodley, Erin Woodley, Bristol Davenport, Claire Carty, Jacob Rossi and Bailey Larkin. Funeral service will be held Monday, January 9, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Philippi Church of Christ, Creswell with Glenn Brickhouse and Thomas Biggs officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Family will receive friends on Sunday, January 8, 2012 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at Philippi Church of Christ and other times at the residence of her son, Horace Woodley. Arrangements are by Maitland Funeral Home, Creswell.
