Kathy Davenport Skiles, 76, of Plymouth passed away on Friday, November 25, 2022 after a long illness.
Born November 2,1946 in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late John Forbes Davenport and Myra Nell Vann. She was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin (Frank) Skiles, Jr. and daughter, Gina Skiles Mayer, and granddaughter, Jessie Mayer.
Kathy grew up in Plymouth and was a member of the Plymouth United Methodist Church. She graduated from Plymouth High School and attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education. She taught third grade for thirty years. She and her first husband, Gene Harlan Christensen, had one son.
Surviving family includes sons, Eric H. Christensen and wife Amanda of Chesapeake Beach, MD and Benjamin Skiles and wife Molly of Roxbury, CT; daughter, Amy Skiles Moricle and husband Eddie of Plymouth, NC; son-in-law, Mercer Mayer of Roxbury, CT; sister, Myra Herring and husband Henry of Wilmington, NC; grandchildren, Harlan Christensen, Elise Christensen, Caleb McNair, Justine McNair, Benjamin Mayer, Zeb Mayer, Arden Mayer, and Matilda Skiles; great granddaughters, Autumn Mayer and Charlotte McNair.
Services will be held at the Mackeys United Methodist Church on Friday, December 2, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Karen Pruette officiating. Family will receive friends at the church following the service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer's Association.
