Obituary for Joseph Clinton Snell
Joseph Clinton Snell, 89, of Plymouth died Tuesday, June 7, 2011, at Martin General Hospital in Williamston.
Born May 8, 1922 in Washington County he was the son of the late Joseph William Snell and Bessie Chappell Snell and was preceded in death by his brothers, J.T. Snell and Grady W. Snell. Mr. Snell was a retired fine paper maker with Weyerhaeuser Corporation and member of Plymouth Church of Christ. He was the former manager of the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Office, a gentleman farmer and U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II.
His family includes his wife, Sarah Jackson Snell of Plymouth, N.C.; daughter, Teresa S. Atkins and husband Vaughan of Midlothian, VA.; sons, Joseph R. Snell and wife Mary of Jamesville, N.C., Jeffrey T. Snell of Plymouth, N.C., Dr. Phillip W. Snell and wife Paula of Portland, OR.; sisters, Faye S. Bradon of Midlothian, VA. and Lorena S. White of Bonita, CA.; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, June 9, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Maitland Funeral Home, Plymouth with Bob Moulden and Thomas Biggs officiating. Burial will follow in Windley Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Maitland Funeral Home and other times at the residence. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Alzheimer's Foundation. Arrangements are by Maitland Funeral Home, Plymouth.
