Obituary for Jon Wayne Barnes, Sr.
Jon Wayne Barnes, Sr., 83, of Creswell went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 20, 2016, at his residence in Creswell surrounded by his loving family.

Born August 6, 1933 in Washington County he was the son of the late Charlie Latham Barnes and Hortense Ambrose Barnes and was preceded in death by his son, Jon Wayne Barnes, Jr.; brothers, Charles Leo Barnes and Gerald Latham Barnes. Jon was a retired raw materials coordinator with thirty three years' service with Weyerhaeuser Corporation and a member of Philippi Church of Christ. He was a former Mayor of the Town of Creswell, a past master and member of Providence Lodge No. 678, member of Creswell Ruritan Club and a charter member of the Creswell Fire Department.

His family includes his wife, Mary Woodley Barnes of Creswell, N.C.; son, Gordon Leon Barnes and wife Lynne of Goldsboro, N.C.; daughter-in-law, Debbie Barnes of Creswell, N.C.; sister, Margaret Barnes Furlough and husband John of Greenville, N.C.; brothers, Ronnie Barnes and wife Daphne of Creswell, N.C. and Charlie Barnes and wife Betty of Waynesboro, VA.; grandchildren, Heather Davenport and husband Greg Jr., Casey Spear and husband Nelson, Tara Jon Edwards and husband Brian and Myra Lyn Thompson and husband Todd; great grandchildren, Jenna, Sydney, Sky Madison, Trent, Ellie and Brian.

Funeral service will be held Thursday, December 22, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at Philippi Church of Christ with Glenn Brickhouse officiating. Family will receive friends at the church following the service and other times at the residence. Burial will be on Friday, December 23, 2016 at 8:00 a.m. at Philippi Church of Christ Cemetery.

Arrangements are by Maitland Funeral Home, Creswell.
