Obituary for John Thomas Lumsdon
John Thomas Lumsdon, 76, of Columbia died Saturday, January 28, 2012, at his residence in Columbia. Born July 26, 1935 in Hollywood, California he was the son of the late John William Lumsdon and Verda Isabel Downing Lumsdon. John was a retired U.S. Air Force Lieutenant Colonel serving as a B-52 aircraft navigator. He was a Vietnam veteran,a member of the Outer Banks Gun Club, was an endowment member of the National Rifle Association, member of the Society of Old Crows, member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. His family includes his wife, Roberta Joy Fox Lumsdon of Cary, N.C.; son, Harold William 'Harry' Lumsdon of Tampa, FL., daughters, Esther Margaret Lumsdon and husband Scott Robert Chilcote of Cary, N.C., Jennifer Lynn Bialk and husband Stanley Joseph of Hampton, VA.; sister, Naudine Lumsdon Daughenbaugh of Greene, Iowa; grandchildren, Justin, Jesse, James, Ryan and great grandchild William. A memorial service will the held Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Maitland Funeral Home, Creswell. Family will receive friends after the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Tyrrell County Animal Shelter or the Hotline in Manteo. Arrangements are by Maitland Funeral Home, Creswell.
