John Dallas Waters "Johnnie" was born March 7, 1946 to the late Dallas Gaylord Waters and Margaret Bateman Waters. His family includes his loving wife of over 21 years, Sharon Griffin Waters; son John Aldwin Waters and special friend Helen Bitalas; daughter Jonzi Waters Guill, and step daughter Tracy Beth Woolard. Johnnie was preceded in death by his step-son, Chad Wilson Woolard in 2021.
Johnnie was born in Beaufort County and graduated Plymouth High School in 1964. He then furthered his education at Campbell University. Over the years Johnnie enjoyed many water related activities such as skiing, fishing and boating. His love for beach music took him and Sharon on many Shagging adventures. Sunday around the Water's house was church and then NASCAR. After his retirement their greatest joy was relaxing and spending time at their Salter Path home in Indian Beach.
Johnnie was a volunteer for the Coast Guard Auxiliary and also served in the National Guard. He was a member of the Plymouth United Methodist Church where he played many roles and served on various church committees. Along with his mother and father he owned and operated Waters Oil Company for over 35 years. After the oil company was sold Johnnie worked 17 years with the NC DMV. He was very proud to have received an award for serving over 50 years in the Plymouth Lions Club.
