Obituary for Jesse Edison Swain
A loving father, Jesse Edison Swain, age 95, of Creswell, NC, went home to be with his Lord Jesus on January 20, 2022.
He was born in Washington County on April 6, 1926, to William and Alethia Phelps Swain. He attended Creswell Academy. At an early age he left for the military. He enlisted into the Army Air Corps and served in Germany during World War II. He later transitioned into the United States Air Force where he served both in Korea and Vietnam. After Honorably serving his Country, he retired in 1969 and returned home to Creswell where he enjoyed farming and tending his land. He was a lifelong member of Philippi Church of Christ.
He is survived by his three children: Patricia (Rick) Swain Stivers of San Antonio, TX, Jay (Angie) Swain of Fuquay Varina, NC, and Sandra Swain of Grifton, NC; five grandchildren, William Elliott, Kathryn Stivers, Jayson (Sarah) Swain, Alexandria (Trey) Bailey, Stephanie Stivers; six great grandchildren, Christian, Kaitlyn, Truett, Leighton, Shepherd and Ellyson.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Billie Jean Clifton, Swain, infant son; brothers, and sisters, Richard Allison Swain, Mildred Swain, Pauline S. Spruill, Rosalee S. Hayes, Johnny S. Swain, E. Ashley Swain, and William Herman Swain.
Graveside service will be held Thursday, January 27, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Philippi Church of Christ Cemetery with Steven Mills officiating. Family will receive friends on Thursday, January 27, 2022 from 1:00 to 1:30 p.m. at Maitland Funeral Home, Creswell and following the service at the graveside.
Arrangements are by Maitland Funeral Home, Creswell.
