Jeneille McGowan Swain, 85, of Roper, passed into Heaven on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at ECU Health Bertie Hospital in Windsor.
Born January 28, 1938 in Washington County she was the daughter of the late Mack McGowan and Ethel Ambrose McGowan and was preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years, William W. Swain; brothers, Bryan McGowan, Charles McGowan and Jack McGowan along with one sister, Ruby McGowan Furlough. She was a homemaker, founding member and secretary of Mid-County Fire Department and a lifelong member of Mt. Hermon Methodist Church.
Her family includes her beloved son, Jeff Swain and wife Stephanie of Roper, N.C.; sisters, Marquita Furlough of Edenton, N.C,, Sarah Lyons of Shawboro, N.C. and Ethel Holton of Roper, N.C.; granddaughters, Jennifer Rodriguez (Jonathan) and Christine Berry; three great grandchildren whom she dearly loved, Josie, Gwen and Jonah Rodriguez.
Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Hermon Methodist Church Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the graveside following the service and other times at the residence. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Mt. Hermon Methodist Church or the Mid-County Ruritans.
Arrangements are by Maitland Funeral Home, Plymouth.
