Obituary for Jane Speller Asby
Jane Elizabeth Speller Asby, 79, of Plymouth died Saturday, March 19, 2016, at her residence in Plymouth.
Born September 6, 1936 in Bertie County she was the daughter of the late Walter Hamilton Speller and Myrtle Baggett Speller who survives. Jane was a stay at home mom until her children were grown. She later worked as a school cafeteria accountant, did temporary clerical work with Weyerhaeuser Corporation and managed the Plymouth Country Club Restaurant for five years. She was a member of First Christian Church, The Daughters of the American Revolution, The Red Hat Society, Plymouth Ladies Golf Association and a Brownie Troop leader. She enjoyed traveling the country with her husband, Jimmy and made many wonderful friends during their travels.
Her family includes her mother, Myrtle Baggett Speller of Williamston, N.C.; husband, Jimmy Wood Asby of Plymouth, N.C.; daughters, Jennifer Asby Jones and husband Steve and Jamie Lynn Asby both of Plymouth, N.C.; sister, Nancy Speller Carson of Snow Hill, N.C. and brother, Samuel Ridley Speller of Williamston, N.C.
Memorial service will be held Friday, March 25, 2016 at 1:30 pm at First Christian Church, Plymouth with Reverend V. Tom Banks officiating. Family will receive friends on Friday in the church fellowship hall following the service and other times at the residence. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to First Christian Church, 509 East Main Street, Plymouth, N.C. 27962.
