Obituary for James Phillips Williams, Sr.
James Phillips Williams, Sr., 88, of Williamston died Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at Three Rivers Health & Rehabilitation Center in Windsor. Born December 3, 1924 in Martin County he was the son of the late Lonnie Williams and Ada Gardner Williams and was preceded in death by his sons, James P. Williams, Jr. and Danny Williams. James was a retired truck driver and member of Cedar Branch Baptist Church. His family includes his wife, Doris Mobley Williams of Williamston, N.C.; son, Johnny Williams of Pennsylvania; step-daughters, Brenda Snell of Jamesville, N.C., Ann Chesson and husband Jimmy of Williamston, N.C., Tammie Smith and husband Timmy of Plymouth, N.C.; step-sons, Mickey Gurganus of Williamston, N.C., Bobby Gurganus and wife Pat, Gene Gurganus and wife Sharon, Danny Gurganus and wife Julie all of Plymouth, N.C.; sister, Esther Culpepper of Norfolk, Va.; brother, E.H. Williams of Williamston, N.C. and eight grandchildren. Funeral service will be held Friday, April 12, 2013 at 3:00 pm at Maitland Funeral Home, Plymouth with Steve Creech and Wayne Ellis officiating. Burial will follow in Jamesville Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Friday, April 12, 2013 from 1:30 to 2:30 pm at Maitland Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Arrangements are by Maitland Funeral Home, Plymouth.
