Obituary for Jack T. 'Neighbor' Spruill
Mr. Jack Tarkington "Neighbor" Spruill, 79, of Roper died Saturday, December 12, 2009 at Plumblee Nursing Center, Plymouth.
Born April 26, 1930 in Washington County he was the son of the late N. Warren Spruill and Lizzie Tarkington Spruill and was preceded in death by his brothers, LeRoy Spruill, William Spruill, John Spruill and Sidney Spruill. Jack was a retired boiler operator with forty-one years service with Weyerhaeuser Corporation, a US Army veteran of World War II and member of Zion's Chapel Church Of Christ.
His family includes his wife, Pattie Lilley Spruill of Roper, N.C.; daughters, Jackie S. Price and husband Ray of Roper, N.C., Catherine S. Griffin of Roper, N.C. and Linda S. Dickson and husband Lynn of Morehead City, N.C.; sons, Jerry W. Spruill and wife Lydia of Chesapeake, Va. and LeRoy Spruill of Fairfield, N.C.; sisters, Ruth Schwanke of Plymouth, N.C. and Elizabeth Newberry of Tarboro, N.C.; brother, Aubrey Spruill of Kensington, MD.; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at 2:00 pm at Zion's Chapel Church Of Christ with Mark Wilmoth officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. Arrangements are by Maitland Memorial Chapel, Plymouth.
