Obituary for Ivan Mixon
Ivan Mixon, 93, of Plymouth died Wednesday, November 19, 2014, at Washington County Hospital in Plymouth. Born June 19, 1921 in Bartow, Georgia he was the son of the late John P. Mixon and Pearl Pollette Mixon and was preceded in death by his son, David A. Mixon and brother, John Carl Mixon. Ivan was a retired rural letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service and a member of The American Legion. He served in the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Army during World War II and was proud to be a veteran. His family includes his wife, Annie Hooker Mixon of Plymouth, N.C.; daughter, Susie M. Urick and friend Stephen of Plymouth, N.C.; sons, John I. Mixon and wife Tammy of Plymouth, N.C. and Michael O. Mixon and friend Patty of Woodbridge, Va.; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Memorial service will be held Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Grace Episcopal Church, Plymouth with Reverend Henry Burdick officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 following the service in the Church Parrish Hall and other times at the residence of his daughter, Susie Urick. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Grace Episcopal Church, 108 Madison Street, Plymouth, N.C. 27962 Arrangements are by Maitland Funeral Home, Plymouth.
