Obituary for Heber Alligood
Heber Alligood, 90, of Creswell died Sunday, January 22, 2012, at Washington County Hospital in Plymouth. Born January 10, 1922 in Washington County he was the son of the late Ira Joyner Alligood and Mary Spruill Alligood and was preceded in death by his first wife, Milver Davis Alligood; step-son, Wade Cutler, Jr. and brother, Orval Alligood. Heber was a retired farmer and member of Scuppernong Church of Christ. He loved the outdoors, working with his pigs and riding around the community in his pickup as long as his health permitted. His family includes his wife, Erma Tetterton Cutler Alligood of Creswell, N.C.; step-daughter, Carol Cutler of Washington, N.C.; brothers, Ira J. Alligood, Jr. of York, PA., Lewis Alligood of Chattanooga, TN., Horace Alligood of Greensboro, N.C.; nephew, Jerry Orval Alligood of Washington, N.C.; two step grandchildren and two step great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Thursday, January 26, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Scuppernong Church of Christ, Creswell with Cleve Edwards officiating. Family will receive friends on Thursday, Janaury 26, 2012 following the service. Honorary pallbearers are Harry Thomas Phelps, Jerry Alligood, Kevin Alligood, Doug Clifton, Henry Spruill, Horace Lee Ambrose, Todd Phelps, Derl Spruill, Michael Spruill and Mike Martin. Flowers are welcome or memorial donations may be made to Scuppernong Church of Christ, 3510 Davenport Forks Road, Creswell, N.C. 27928. Arrangements are by Maitland Funeral Home, Creswell.
