Obituary for Harry Rudolph Thompson, Sr.
Harry Rudolph Thompson, Sr., 88, of Plymouth died Saturday November 29, 2014, at his residence in Plymouth. Born December 1, 1925 in Beaufort County he was the son of the late Charlie Gray Thompson and Retha Sermons Thompson and was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Smith Thompson, sister, Marion Radcliff and brother, Joe Thompson. Rudy was retired from Weyerhaeuser Corporation with 38 years service and a member of First Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and served on the USS Wilkes-Barre and was a member of the Gideon with the Tyrrell-Washington Camp since 2006. His family includes his daughter, Wanda T. Thompson and husband Tom of New Bern, N.C.; son, Ronnie Thompson and wife Beth of Plymouth, N.C.; grandchildren, Bryce Thompson and wife Krista, Brant Thompson and wife Pinky and Ron Thompson; great grandson, Gavin Thompson. Funeral service will be held Monday, December 1, 2014 at 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church, Plymouth with Reverend Jimmy Hagwood officiating. Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens in Washington. Family will receive friends on Monday, December 1, 2014 from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church and other times at the residence of his son, Ronnie. Arrangements are by Maitland Funeral Home, Plymouth.
