Obituary for Harlen Murph Phipps
SERVICE HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED FOR SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 26th
Harlen Irene Murph Phipps, of Plymouth, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on January 8th, at 77 years old, and she is now singing in the heavenly Choir. Harlen doesn't want us to be sad; why, because she knows she was "just passing thru" and has now gone to her home that the Lord prepared for her! Her faith stood firm... "I am excited about going to heaven whether it is when I die or the Lord comes"!
Visitation will be held at 11:30 a.m. at Plymouth Church of Christ Family Life Center on Saturday, February 26th, 2022. Harlen's Life Celebration will follow at 12:00 p.m. and then a graveside service at Hillside Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Plymouth.
Harlen was born in Greensboro, NC to the late Hollis Ford Murph and Vaudie Crotts Murph on May 19, 1944. She was joint owner and operator of Double H Express Trucking with her beloved Red. On their rig they displayed "Just Passing Thru"! They were adventurous travelers and loved seeing God's beautiful creations. She was a devoted employee at AGRU America in Georgetown, SC where she finished her career and retired. She was a very loved member of Georgetown Baptist Church where she loved teaching children and was the pianist. She loved to read, relax listening to gospel music, sing southern gospel music (she had a voice that would take you to a place of worship), which all brought her "joy unspeakable". And of course enjoyed attending car races (she had that Murph racing blood) and spending time with her Family.
Harlen was the beloved wife of the late Jr (aka Red) Phipps; precious "Mom figure" to her nieces and nephews and any other children she met. Her Christ-like spirit was a blessing to many!
Harlen was preceded in death by her husband, Homer (Red) Phipps Jr., her parents, Hollis and Vaudie and her brother, Darrell Murph.
Harlen is survived by her sister, Sharon Yates of Cary; brother, Larry Murph and wife Alice; brother, Fred Murph and wife Delores; brother, Artie Murph and wife Loretta, all of Plymouth, and sister-in-law, Kimmy Bray Murph of Grimesland; nieces and nephews, Michelle and husband Chris, Jenny, Darren and wife Dana, Deborah and Russell; great nephews, Colton, Luke, Maverick and Charlie.
As you well know Harlen always wanted you to feel welcomed and comfortable when you joined her in worship so she wanted you to know "casual dress at her Life Celebration".
Due to Harlen's love and ministry to children, the family would like to share the following for those that would like to remember her with a memorial donation.
