Obituary for Giles Ervin Stallings, Sr.
Giles Ervin Stallings, Sr., 87, of Roper died Tuesday, December 2, 2014, at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville. Born September 13, 1927 in Martin County he was the son of the late Ferdinand Clarence Stallings and Martha Beulah Holliday Stallings and was preceded in death by his sisters, Eris Delores Stallings Taylor and Beulah Venetia Stallings Anderson; brothers, F.C. Stallings, Jr., Linwood Carlyle Stallings and Leighton Ray Stallings. Giles was a lifelong farmer, a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II and member of Jamesville Christian Church. His family includes his daughters, Elizabeth Renee Stallings of Richmond Hill, Ga. and Wandra Stallings Whitford of Hillsborough, N.C.; sons, Giles E. Stallings, Jr. of Roper, N.C. and Eric M. Stallings of Plymouth, N.C.; eight grandchildren, Amanda Whitford Grundy and husband Eric, Benjamin Whitford, Jeremy Whitford and wife Melody, Giles Stallings, III, Brantley Stallings, Jonathan Whitford, Christopher Stallings and Lorianna Whitford;four great grandchildren, Jonah Whitford, Vivian Whitford, Eli Grundy and Ava Grundy. Funeral service will be held Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Jamesville Christian Church with Reverend Doug Stokes officiating. Burial will follow in the Jamesville Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Saturday, December 6, 2014 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Jamesville Christian Church and other times at the residence of his son, Eric. Flowers are welcome or donations may be made to Jamesville Christian Church. Arrangements are by Maitland Funeral Home, Plymouth.
