Obituary for Floyd Ray Davenport
Floyd Ray Davenport, 84, of Creswell died Saturday, March 22, 2014, at his residence in Creswell. Born May 7, 1929 in Washington County he was the son of the late Henry Laudie Davenport and Myra Gertrude Phelps Davenport. Ray was a retired farmer, a member of Albemarle Hunting Club and member of Philippi Church of Christ. His family includes his wife, Merida Spruill Davenport of Creswell, N.C.; daughters, Beverly D. Furlough and husband Thomas of Roper, N.C., Terry D. Suter and husband Fred of Creswell, N.C.; son, Guy R. Davenport and wife Kay of Creswell, N.C.; sister, Alice D. Strader of Plymouth, N.C.; eight grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at 11:00 am at Philippi Church of Christ with Larry Woodley and Glenn Brickhouse officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Family will receive friends on Monday, March 24, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Philippi Church of Christ and other times at the residence. Flowers are welcome or donations may be made to Philippi Church of Christ, 73 Old Cherry Road, Creswell, N.C. 27928. Arrangements are by Maitland Funeral Home, Creswell.
